WELCOME STATEMENT

On behalf of the NCL2025 Organising Committee, we are thrilled to be hosting the 19th International Congress on Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis (NCL) in the stunning surrounds of the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia. As the premier conference on Batten disease, the bi-annual NCL Congress brings together world-leading researchers, healthcare providers, industry partners, innovators and patient advocacy leaders from around the globe.

In 2025, we are excited to combine NCL Congress with the BDSRA Australia Family Conference, providing invaluable opportunity for meaningful engagement and shared learning between Congress delegates and the Batten disease family community. This collaborative event will help foster connections, enrich discussions, and enable us to collectively shape the future of Batten disease research, treatment and patient care.

Building on the strengths of past meetings, we are planning an engaging program that will include integrated multidisciplinary sessions and panels, in addition to traditional presentations covering basic, translational, and clinical research. These sessions will bring together experts from lab-bench to bedside, exploring every facet of the journey from discovery to daily management and care.

We are especially proud to host this event on the Sunshine Coast, the traditional land of the Kabi Kabi peoples, a region renowned for its stunning natural beauty and rich wildlife. We encourage you to take the opportunity to explore more of this spectacular region during your stay.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Sunshine Coast in October 2025 for what promises to be a truly memorable event.
