Mel Currey
With nearly 20 years in special education, Melanie has dedicated her career to supporting students with complex and diverse learning needs. She has previously worked as assistant principal and deputy principal in supported learning settings, and is currently serving as an Education Specialist for Diversity. In her roles, she works to ensure inclusive and meaningful learning opportunities are available for all students, regardless of their needs.
Throughout her career, Melanie has supported students living with a range of complex health conditions, including Batten Disease, adapting educational programs as their needs evolve. Her work is grounded in a deep commitment to dignity, empathy, and connection with families, making sure that each student’s educational experience is both enriching and respectful of their individual journey.
